Another Year of Loving the Earth

“We present unique insights into solving the Earth’s environmental crises, creating a healthier, more peaceful planet,” say leaders of The Earth & I, a digital publication of the Hyo Jeong International Foundation for the Unity of the Sciences (HJIFUS) founded by True Parents. “As we navigate unprecedented challenges, the need to stay informed and connected becomes not just important but essential.”

Since its launch in spring 2021, the mission of The Earth & I has been clear: “to amplify global voices for the planet through impactful environmental journalism, and to raise awareness of the optimal, interdependent relationship between humans and nature,” leaders say. With articles spanning all things related to the natural world — from ecosystems and water quality, to natural disasters, energy, and climate change, among other topics — the digital publication uplifts the voices of experts, scientists, and everyday people around the world, sharing stories that “highlight the beauty, challenges, and interconnectedness of nature.”

The publication is also a platform providing scientific exploration for solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental problems. Articles such as “How Catalysis is Poised to Rock Our World” and “Exclusion Zone (EZ) Water: Potential for Filtration and Electric Power” dive into the frontiers of human ingenuity and scientific progress, leaders say, exploring innovative solutions to global challenges.

Educating the public with a mindset of personal responsibility and stewardship of the earth is another component of the publication’s mission as well. “Those who learn to love all things of creation and to love people will come to love God,” True Father stated in 1974, explaining that all things of creation are symbols of God. The Earth & I readers learn more about the vital role each person plays in protecting and caring for the environment — elevating human consciousness toward nature through impactful stories that inspire local and grassroots change that can eventually build worldwide.

The Earth and I Podcast, which debuted earlier this year, also brought environmental news, stories, and solutions to an even broader audience on Spotify. “The Earth & I is doing wonderful work supporting the environment and raising awareness about [the world’s various challenges],” says one patron.

But with 2024 around the corner, leaders are now seeking the public’s assistance through a special fundraising campaign called “Another Year of Loving the Earth.” Funding support will enable The Earth & I team to continue producing top-notch environmental journalism, spotlighting critical issues, promoting technological advancements, and prioritizing the planet’s well-being by contributing to the growing global movement of sustainability.

“Support ensures the dissemination of knowledge that empowers individuals to make informed choices for a more sustainable future,” leaders say. “[This empowers] others with knowledge that sparks positive action ... and builds a global community passionate about environmental stewardship.”
