Portland Oregon Leadership Opportunity

January 2, 2024

The Portland Family Church is in search of new leadership. This is a “turn-around” growth opportunity for someone with energy and enthusiasm. We are an older congregation, with a few local 2nd Gen members, and a desire to do outreach and be successful.

If you are looking for a meaningful life in a beautiful natural environment, Portland could be your opportunity. It is surrounded by rivers, mountains, forests and waterfalls, about an hour from the Pacific Ocean. God has blessed us with dramatic natural beauty. People here are polite and friendly. They enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, snowboarding, skiing, camping, white water rafting and other outdoor sports. It is a great place to engage with new people and build community activities.

We follow Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon as our ecclesiastical leader. We want to grow by reaching out to new people and we need a leader to help us to do that. Our congregation has about 45 members, plus friends. This is a part-time salaried position, with an option to become full-time. Details are negotiable.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire, lead and provide spiritual education for 18 to 30 year olds.

  • Work with the Board of Elders to foster intergenerational cooperation.

  • Cooperate with existing teams who organize social events and community outreach activities.

  • Encourage and participate in activities that build enduring financial growth.

  • Work with our Sunday Service team and provide two sermons a month.

  • Help us to recruit and create a dynamic music ministry.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will be familiar with Unificationist traditions and practices, while working to exemplify Unificationist values and beliefs in their own personal life.

  • College degree preferred, or commensurate life experience.

  • Drivers license required.

  • Experience leading, inspiring and educating college-aged people.

  • Good communication skills and people skills.

  • Adept at using email, texting, some office software and social media.

  • Public relations/advertising/sales skills are an advantage.

  • Appreciation of worship music or musical ability is helpful.

  • Financial awareness.

  • Further training in public speaking and event planning can be done on the job.

  • Continuing education in the field of ministry and social outreach is recommended.
