Hyun Jin Moon is the third son of Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon.
He is a humanitarian and entrepreneurial leader dedicated to the empowerment of people in volunteer public service and peace-building activities.
He is chairman of the Global Peace Festival, a visionary project aiming to bring all the world’s faith traditions together to create lasting bonds based on the universal principals shared by all God-affirming people. Under the banner of “One Family Under God,” the three pillars of the Global Peace Festivals are ideals championed by his father, the Reverend Sun Myung Moon: interfaith cooperation, encouraging God-centered families and creating a culture of service.
As chairman of the Universal Peace Federation, Hyun Jin Moon heads a number of charitable and not-for-profit activities, including the Ambassadors for Peace, an international organization of prominent figures from the public- and private sectors of more than a hundred-and-fifty countries on every continent. Ambassadors for Peace are committed to resolving human conflict through building bridges of understanding and cooperation between nations, cultures and faith traditions.
He serves as chairman of News World Communications LLC, the parent company of The Washington Times, United Press International, and other media properties. In addition, he leads The Washington Times Foundation, a private foundation that operates as a charitable counterpart to The Washington Times daily newspaper in support of a variety of initiatives to resolve human conflict.
Hyun Jin Moon is an avid sportsman, known for his love of nature and the wilderness, as well as an accomplished horseman. He represented his country as a member of the Korean Equestrian Team in the Seoul Olympics (1988) and the Barcelona Olympics (1992).
He graduated from Columbia University with honors and from the Masters of Business Administration program at the Harvard Business School. He also has received a Masters Degree in Religious Education from the Unification Theological Seminary and an honorary doctorate from Sun Moon University in Korea.
He was married in 1987 to Jun Sook Kwak. They have nine children. |
