“The world as we knew it ended yesterday,” Rev. In Jin Moon told 1500 Unification Church members from around the country at Lovin’ Life Ministries’ service in Las Vegas on March 22, 2011. Although many listeners of Family Radio preacher Harold Camping had feared that May 21st would be doomsday, Rev. In Jin Moon explained that “it is not the physical end, but it is instead the spiritual rebirth or the regeneration that is set to take place if we unite our heart and spirit together with our True Parents.”
Following the previous day’s charity slot tournament, the Reverend Sun Myung Moon’s historic proclamation, and a night of celebration at a gala with more than 2000 people, Rev. In Jin Moon reminded all present at the prestigious Aria Hotel how important it was for them to have spent the day with True Parents. “We have hit the greatest jackpot to not only live at the same time as our True Parents, but also to dine intimately with them yesterday evening,” she said. “Think about what took place last night. You are talking about dining with the True Parents of humankind. Now that is priceless.”
Since the Founder’s tour of 10 European countries had concluded in Las Vegas the previous day, Rev. In Jin Moon explained that the reason True Parents had come to this city was to liberate it from what other people perceive it to be, a city of sin. “True Parents came to help people of Las Vegas re-imagine what their city can be. Instead of being called a city of sin, or the Sodom and Gomorra of the modern day era, our True Parents go where people really don’t want to go…to bring the spirit of true love and through their presence actively to heal the people that have felt no hope, that have felt abused, so they can find their dignity and worth in understanding that they are the children of God and graft on to this heavenly lineage. If that is not the work that the messiah does, then I don’t know what is.”
Rev. Moon also stressed in her sermon the importance of making the effort to practice this belief in our True Parents in our everyday life. She suggested three ways for this to be done. First, she urged showing trust, as a child would instinctively show to a parent. This includes letting go of our fears and insecurities in order to trust without worry. The second way is to understand the meaning of the word “follow” which should be done with an attitude of humility. Third, she stressed the importance of simple belief. “If we can truly believe by trusting and following our Heavenly Parent and our True Parents, and being that simple child of God, then we can start building this understanding that we really are that child of God and we belong to this one family,” she explained.
Sonic Cult
The sermon was followed by a spirited performance by Sonic Cult that had youth from around the room run to the front and jump to the live music. Members then gathered in a long line around the large Bristlecone Ballroom for two hours to greet and speak with Rev. In Jin Moon directly.
One member in line shared that he was touched by Rev. In Jin Moon talking about the recent concern about the end of the world in her sermon. “We all read about this prophecy in the news and saw it on TV, but she nailed it in saying that even though this may be the end of the old world, we still have the responsibility to take the next step.”
Rev. Rohan Durant, National Leader of the Unification Church in Barbados, commented to Familyfed.org: “I was struck by the spirit today. How the young people love the service. In Jin Nim has captured something that I am dying to capture in Barbados. She has made it cool, that is, made the life of loving and following True Parents cool, acceptable. She has bridged the gap between True Parents and the young people.”
Mimi Morse, Executive Director of Marketing, Aria Resort and Casino, shared after the service: “I am a Christian. I have always believed in one God, and that we all are sons and daughters of the one God, no matter what church we have, whether we go to church or not. It’s all the same. I believe in Father Moon and Mother Moon and everything they stand for. When he (True Father) came into the ballroom yesterday you could feel a special energy. When he is not in Las Vegas, it seems like the city is empty somehow. Rev. In Jin Moon gave a great message today. We have to just believe, we have to learn how to trust each other, trust God.”
