"Haitian Unificationists are removing debris from their collapsed church building in order to create space for a temporary shelter,” Rev. Theodule Paul, the national Unification Church leader in Haiti, writes to Familyfed.org.
Reverend Paul reports that ten members continue to camp on the lawn next to the collapsed church and an older brick-and-stone church residence that remains standing in part. “One part of the house stands but we do not know [its] situation – whether it must be demolished – so we will really need big money to re-start but we have hope,” he reports. The annual rainy season is impending, so a temporary shelter is being planned. “We do not know yet what kind of shelter must be built. As soon as we finish evacuating all the debris, a technician will tell us,” he explains.
Reverend Paul also wrote: “Fortunately, we have received help from Unificationists around the world to help [other refugees] with water, rice, beans, oil, toilet paper, paste, toothbrushes, carpets, blankets, flashlights, clothes, sweaters, deodorant, sugar, crackers, diapers, soap, shampoo, salmon, corn, milk, we could help them with all these materials. We have to do our best to help them feel really the love of True Parents through the Unification Church.
“We continue to hold our Sunday Service in order to keep our True Parents and God alive in this Nation of Haiti. Now it is the time to celebrate the victory of True Parents in Haiti. We have hope, God is Great, True Parents are alive. We pray that the spirit of True Parents can stay with us.”
