I am Ali Mahjoub. I was raised in a humble Muslim family in the desert of Tunisia in North Africa. I grew up as a peasant, farmer and a shepherd. For years, I tilled the land behind a camel and harvested acres of wheat and barley by hand until my hands bled and my back became bent.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
By now, I am sure you have heard the news of Eric Holt’s sudden and unexpected ascension. He passed this morning, Wednesday May 22nd at 5.55 AM due to complications arising from liver cancer, after a dramatic and extremely rapid decline. In fact, we were expecting him at work on Monday morning but he was instead being admitted into the hospital.

Eric Holt (1952-2013)
Eric Holt was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on April 20, 1952, the second son in a family of four. Eric grew up in a family of meager means but put his mind to use at an early age, becoming the Scottish National Chess Champion at the age of 19. As a national chess champion he had the opportunity to travel to several countries and play in tournaments throughout Europe.
